A 50-year-old Newport man has been given a community order after sending sexual images and video to someone he believed was a schoolgirl. Neil Faulkner must also register as a sex offender for five years.

Julian Harris, 59, of Caldicot, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being convicted of indecent exposure. Newport Magistrates’ Court heard he is a “danger to young people” with previous convictions for similar offences.

Houssam El-Kassem, 42, was sentenced to 30 weeks in prison at Newport Magistrates’ Court after a theft from TK Maxx put him in breach of a suspended sentence imposed for a string of earlier shoplifting offences.

Joshua Brain, 19, of Harrow Road, Newport, pleaded guilty to possessing category A, B, and C indecent images of children. He is due to be sentenced at the crown court on June 26.

Llewellyn Tudball, 47, of Risca, was sentenced to 12 months in custody at Newport Magistrates’ Court after admitting breaching a restraining order for the fourth time by contacting his victim via text and social media.

Dean Smith, 47, of Llanhilleth, received a four-month suspended sentence at Newport Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to possessing 309 prohibited images of a child.

Andrew Wyatt, 36, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Newport Magistrates’ Court after admitting six thefts from businesses across the Caerphilly county borough totalling more than £1,500.

Philip Drake, 38, was handed a suspended sentence at Newport Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to exposure and breaching a non-molestation order.

Mackenzie Bennett, 21, of Pennant Street, Ebbw Vale, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to pay £971.

Leigh Dixon, 44, of Bettws, Newport, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to killing a wild bird under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and a public order offence. He will be sentenced on June 3.

Mason Tarling, 18, of Dyffryn, Newport, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to distributing an indecent image of a child along with further offences. He is due to be sentenced at crown court on June 5.

Callum Lewis, 19, was sent to a young offender institution for 28 weeks after admitting riding a Sur-Ron bike dangerously through Newport while subject to a suspended sentence for a similar offence.
