Aladje Balde, 23, of Llanrumney, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison at Newport Crown Court after assaulting shop workers, a police officer, and directing racist abuse at two people during a rampage across Cardiff Bay.

Jake James, 25, of Ystrad Mynach, was sentenced to 18 months at Newport Crown Court after officers found he had collected further child abuse images within weeks of receiving a suspended sentence and sexual harm prevention order.

Christian Byrne, 42, from Undy, was jailed for 42 months after cocaine worth thousands was seized following a traffic stop on the A48. His partner Kristina Lang, 25, from Abertillery, was given a suspended sentence.

Tyran Webber, 37, threatened to throw his mother off a car park roof, spat in her face and broke her glasses after she refused to give him cash to buy drugs. He was sentenced to 21 months at Newport Crown Court.

Kyle O’Callaghan, 30, was sentenced at Newport Crown Court for the manslaughter of Marcus Carpenter, 37, who died four days after being struck outside the Picture House Wetherspoons in Ebbw Vale.

Dylan Dawes, 50, of Canton, Cardiff, was handed an 18-month suspended sentence at Newport Crown Court after being found guilty of six offences relating to more than 6,000 indecent images of children found on his devices.

Matthew Toyer, 46, of Abergavenny, was convicted at Newport Crown Court of sexually abusing a girl under 13. He was sentenced to 15 years’ custody with a one-year extended licence.

Gareth Coughlin, 57, was sentenced to three years in prison at Newport Crown Court after pleading guilty to intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.

Sheldon Lewis, 28, and Kyle Williams, 39, were sentenced at Newport Crown Court after admitting their involvement in a cocaine supply operation.

Dean Durham, 42, of Pontypridd, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment at Newport Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of intentional strangulation against his partner.

Mark White, 50, of St Athan, has been jailed for 39 months after admitting raping a woman who repeatedly asked him to stop during sex. Newport Crown Court heard he pinned the victim down and ignored her pleas.

Gerry Govier, 53, of Newport, was caught by an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl online. He received a suspended sentence at Newport Crown Court after admitting attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
