A driver has been reported for driving without due care and attention after police saw them overtaking traffic on the wrong side of the road in Newport.

Gwent Police’s Roads Policing officers first noticed the vehicle in the Maindee area because it was going faster than it should have been. As they followed, the driver started overtaking other vehicles and moved onto the opposite side of the carriageway.

Officers then stopped the vehicle. The driver told them they thought it was fine because of how late at night it was, an explanation Gwent Police described as worrying.

The vehicle was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
