Andrew Wyatt, 36, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Newport Magistrates’ Court after admitting six thefts from businesses across the Caerphilly county borough totalling more than £1,500.

Philip Drake, 38, was handed a suspended sentence at Newport Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to exposure and breaching a non-molestation order.

Mackenzie Bennett, 21, of Pennant Street, Ebbw Vale, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to pay £971.

Leigh Dixon, 44, of Bettws, Newport, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to killing a wild bird under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and a public order offence. He will be sentenced on June 3.

Mason Tarling, 18, of Dyffryn, Newport, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to distributing an indecent image of a child along with further offences. He is due to be sentenced at crown court on June 5.

Callum Lewis, 19, was sent to a young offender institution for 28 weeks after admitting riding a Sur-Ron bike dangerously through Newport while subject to a suspended sentence for a similar offence.

Richard McLoughlin, 51, of Caerleon Road, Newport, was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to making a grossly offensive call to the police 101 number, breaching a suspended sentence for an identical offence.

Shane Thomas, 41, of Mountbatten Close, Newport, has pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child under 16. He will be sentenced at crown court on June 2.

A Morrisons supermarket in Cwmbran has been fined £737,000 after hygiene inspectors found its bakery in a dirty and disorganised state, with grime a quarter of an inch thick on the floor.

Retired doctor Dr Mark Westbrook, 59, from Llantilio Pertholey, was handed a suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children. A medical tribunal is now considering whether to remove him from the register.

Newport Magistrates’ Court has ordered an XL Bully named Nova to be destroyed after ruling its owner, Dean O’Keefe, 36, is not a fit and proper person to be in charge of the animal. O’Keefe must also pay Gwent Police £3,762.50 in costs.

Dean Smith, 47, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to possessing prohibited images of a child. His case has been adjourned for a pre-sentence report.
