Anyone with a knife or bladed article they no longer want can hand it in anonymously at Cwmbran Police Station, Gwent Police has said.

The appeal follows a number of items being handed to officers recently so they could be safely disposed of.

Why it matters

According to the force, every unwanted knife or weapon that is handed in helps make communities safer and reduces the risk of serious violence.

Officers have also reminded the public that carrying an offensive weapon in a public place is a criminal offence. Having a bladed article on you without a lawful reason or good excuse may also break the law.

When the bin can be used

The knife amnesty bin is at Cwmbran Police Station and can be used Monday to Friday at these times:

  • 09:00-13:00
  • 14:00-17:00
