Arron Dean, 31, of Dale Street, Menai Bridge, has been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a knife in a public place.
Dean appeared at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 18, where he admitted the offence.
The incident
Dean was spotted heading towards the Menai Bridge high street while carrying a knife after leaving a nearby property.
Prior to this, he had been at the address with other residents and had become aggressive, making threats to harm those present before departing with the weapon in his hand.
The arrest
Taser-trained officers quickly located Dean and challenged him. He threw the knife to the ground and was promptly arrested.
Sergeant Akhil Patel said: “Carrying a knife does not make anyone safer, it puts everyone at more risk of danger.
“Tackling reports of knife crime is always a priority to us and we will continue to act to keep the communities of Anglesey safe.
“We continue to urge anybody with information about those carrying knives in public to report their concerns to the police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
