A man who admitted causing unnecessary suffering to his pet dog has been banned from owning animals for five years.
Ian Gould, 40, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Pontypool on 2 September last year.
Newport Magistrates’ Court heard how he failed to get treatment for the dog called TJ’s “severely infected ear”.
The defendant has to complete a 12-day rehabilitation activity requirement and he was made the subject of a nine-month alcohol treatment requirement.
Gould, of Quickthorn Close, Hengrove, Bristol must pay £634 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
