A 39-year-old man from Llanrwst has been sentenced to two years and seven months in prison after officers discovered four different types of drugs when they carried out a warrant at his property.

Darren Brain, of Tan Y Graig, Llanrwst, was handed the custodial term at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday, June 8.

The offences

Brain had entered guilty pleas to three charges – possession of various drugs, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

The drugs were recovered after members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team executed the warrant.

Police response

North Wales Police highlighted the case as part of a national week celebrating the work of Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the country.

Chief Inspector Ian Roberts of the Prevention team said: “Neighbourhood Policing Teams make a huge difference to communities on a hyper local level.

“Day in and out, they are working in their patches to proactively tackle the issues causing the most concern in communities to keep people safe and prevent serious crime.

“From locking up burglars to working with stores to crack down on shoplifting and proactively patrolling ASB hotspots and arresting those who deal in illegal drugs – neighbourhood teams take on all manner of work as they continue to ensure that the villages, towns and cities of North Wales are kept safe.”
