Body found near Ponthir linked to missing man Robin Lewis

Gwent Police have confirmed that a body was discovered near the Afon Lwyd River in Ponthir on Sunday afternoon, 4 January.

Whilst formal identification has not yet taken place, officers have informed the family of missing man Robin Lewis of the discovery.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a report that a body had been found near the Afon Lwyd River, Ponthir on the afternoon on Sunday 4 January.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of missing man Robin Lewis have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Our thoughts are with Mr Lewis’ family and friends at this difficult time.”

The force has extended its condolences to Mr Lewis’ family and friends during this difficult time.
