Blackwood paedophile given suspended sentence

A paedophile has been sentenced after police discovered vile child sex abuse images at his Blackwood home.

Andrew Morgan, 40, of Woodland Road, Springfield, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard Morgan had 12 category A images – the worst kind depicting young victims being raped – along with one category B image and one category C image.

He was handed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Morgan must complete a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order which will remain in place until 2035.

The offences were committed on 26 June.

Morgan has been ordered to pay a £187 surcharge and £85 costs.
