A 19-year-old burglar has been jailed for more than three years after using an axe to break into an elderly couple’s home in Amlwch while they slept, and turning off their gas supply in the middle of winter.

Michael Jones, 41, of Belfast, was sentenced to two years and ten months at Caernarfon Crown Court after admitting to controlling and coercive behaviour and two assaults against his partner over a period spanning more than ten years.

Siobhan Webb, 37, of Aberdare, has been sentenced to a further 34 weeks in prison after admitting sexual assault on a bus driver in Abergele and assaulting a police officer.
