Barry teen locked up for driving whilst disqualified

An 18-year-old from Barry has been sent to a young offender institution after being caught driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Evan Andrews, of Devon Avenue, was pulled over by Gwent Police on the A4042 at Goytre, Monmouthshire whilst behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf on August 13, 2025.

The teenager appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to both driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

Andrews was sentenced to eight weeks in a young offender institution and handed a 13-month driving ban.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
