Woman admits causing suffering to cat left without food

An RSPCA prosecution has led to a guilty plea from a 28-year-old woman who left a cat without any food or water for several days.

Nadine Jade Martell-Marshall, of Maes Y Ffynnon, Mountain Ash, admitted an animal welfare offence when she appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

The offence

The charge relates to a female tortoiseshell cat called Tigger, which was left without food or water between March 20 and March 24, 2025, at a property in Barry.

Martell-Marshall pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the animal.

What happens next

The case was adjourned to June 10 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared ahead of sentencing. Martell-Marshall was granted unconditional bail.
