Barry man fined over £1,000 for assaulting two police officers

A 29-year-old from Barry has been hit with a bill of more than £1,000 after a court found him guilty of attacking two police officers.

Kane Cook, of Amherst Crescent, was convicted following a trial at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

The assaults

The court heard Cook assaulted PC Patryk Juraszek in Barry and PC Joshua Rowlands in Cardiff on August 28, 2025.

Sentence

Cook was fined £480 and ordered to pay £400 in costs. He was also told to pay £100 in compensation to each officer, bringing his total bill to £1,080.
