An 18-year-old from Newport has admitted distributing an indecent image of a child along with a string of related offences involving illegal material.
Mason Tarling, of Cormorant Way, Dyffryn, entered guilty pleas to all charges when he appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court.
The charges
Tarling pleaded guilty to one count of distributing an indecent image of a child. He also admitted three counts of making indecent images of a child – a total of 24 at category A, which is the most serious classification, 20 at category B, and three at category C.
A further charge of possessing 177 prohibited images of children was also admitted.
The offending period
The offences were committed over a two-week window between September 18 and October 2, 2025.
Next steps
The case has been committed to the crown court, where Tarling is due to be sentenced on June 5. He was granted conditional bail in the meantime.
