Glyn Webb, of St Donats Close, Dinas Powys, has pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child after he believed he was talking to an underage girl.
The 79-year-old appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where he admitted the offence, which took place on August 29 last year.
Webb has been ordered to register as a sex offender and was released on conditional bail. His case has been committed to crown court for sentencing on June 17.
