Tributes are pouring in after a 25-year-old woman died following a fall from her horse at a riding centre in Carmarthen. Katie Hacche, described by many as a “beautiful” and “lovely person,” suffered fatal injuries while practising in a warm-up area at Little Mill Equestrian near Rhydargaeau on Saturday. 🐎

Ms Hacche was a keen and experienced horse rider who had ridden at Little Mill for years. The incident occurred during what should have been a routine practice session at a familiar venue.

Little Mill Equestrian, operated by Susanne, Abi and David Williams, released a heartfelt statement following the incident:

“Our hearts go out to Katie’s family. She was such a lovely person and what a pleasure it was to see her ride here at Little Mill over the years. We simply cannot put into words how we are all feeling. I am reminded that even on a quiet day doing the sport you all love there is risk involved and we do everything we can to ensure people’s safety.

“We would like to extend our thanks to our first aiders who worked tirelessly until the paramedics and the Welsh air ambulance service arrived. We ask if Katie’s family may be given privacy and respected in this truly difficult time.”

Despite the swift arrival of paramedics and the Welsh air ambulance service, Ms Hacche could not be saved.

The local equestrian community has expressed profound shock, with numerous tributes appearing online describing her as someone who “will never be forgotten.” 💔

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that her death is not being treated as suspicious. A coroner’s report is being prepared, and a referral has been made to the local authority.
