A 27-year-old man from Aberbargoed has been handed an extended prison sentence after admitting he intentionally caused another man grievous bodily harm.
Jordan Williams, of Commercial Street, Aberbargoed, appeared for sentence at Cardiff Crown Court, where Recorder Robin Rouch ordered him to serve four years and nine months behind bars, followed by an extended licence period of three years.
The sentence
- Custodial term: four years and nine months
- Extended licence period: three years
- Total extended sentence: seven years and nine months
- Restraining order: 10 years, banning any contact with Mr Lewis
A late change of plea
Williams had been heading for a trial but switched his plea to guilty before it could begin. He admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Callum Lewis.
The prosecution case
Zoe Laugharne, for the prosecution, told the court the offence was committed on 24 May 2026.
Protecting the victim
Alongside the prison term, the Recorder imposed a restraining order that bars Williams from contacting Mr Lewis for the next decade.
Defence
Sol Hartley represented Williams at the hearing.
