A 19-year-old man who admitted possessing 117 indecent images of children has been made the subject of a two-year sexual risk order following a successful police application at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.
The order
Charlie Trickett, of Cwm Braenar, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, is now bound by a set of prohibitions under the order. He is forbidden from any paid, voluntary or recreational activity that would place him in supervisory contact with a child under 16. He must also inform his sex offender manager within seven days of entering any new sexual relationship, providing the name, date of birth, address and contact details of any partner to police.
The offences
Trickett had previously pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to possessing indecent images of children across all three severity categories – 68 at category A, the most serious classification, 33 at category B and 16 at category C. The offending took place over a period spanning from April 30, 2023 to March 4, 2025.
Sentencing
He was sentenced last December to an 18-month community order requiring him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work alongside a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. The court also imposed a 12-month mental health treatment requirement, directing Trickett to attend sessions with a medical practitioner or psychologist. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years and to pay a £114 surcharge and £85 in costs.
