Sully woman fined £582 for watching TV without licence

A 34-year-old woman has been hit with a bill of nearly £600 after she was found to be using a television set without a valid licence.

Nia Purnell, of Steep Holm Close in Sully, appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on February 18 charged with using or installing a television without a licence.

Magistrates fined Purnell £330 and ordered her to pay £120 in costs along with a £132 surcharge – bringing the total to £582.
