Pontypool burglar spared jail for Chepstow jewellery theft

A burglar who stole jewellery from a property in Chepstow just days before Christmas has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Nino Edwards, 27, of Shepherd’s Hill Caravan Site, Lower Race, Pontypool, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court to 20 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

The burglary

Edwards entered a home on Warwick Close in Chepstow as a trespasser on December 22 and took jewellery from inside the address.

Arrest and guilty plea

He was arrested after Gwent Police launched an appeal in connection with the break-in.

Edwards subsequently admitted the burglary charge at Newport Magistrates’ Court on April 1.
