A 57-year-old man from Brynmawr has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to a series of violent offences against a woman.
The offences
Gareth Coughlin carried out the attacks on January 27. He pleaded guilty at Newport Crown Court to three charges – intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.
Sentencing
Judge Daniel Williams handed Coughlin a three-year prison sentence. He was also made the subject of a 10-year restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim.
Coughlin, of Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, will be required to pay a surcharge following his release from prison.
