A 38-year-old man has been handed a 24-week custodial sentence after admitting to a campaign of stalking carried out via YouTube.

The offence

Jodie Clark, of Merthyr Tydfil, uploaded threatening and abusive videos to the platform over a period between April 12 and April 18, directing the content at his victim in behaviour that constituted stalking.

Swift police action

South Wales Police arrested and charged Clark on April 19 – just one day after the final video was posted. He appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on April 21, where he entered a guilty plea to one count of stalking involving serious harm or distress.

Sentencing

Clark was sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court to 24 weeks in prison. A two-year restraining order was also imposed.
