A 33-year-old man who threatened to burn down a woman’s home has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting a string of offences spanning several months.

Sentencing

Kyle Raybould appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where Judge Paul Hobson handed down the custodial term. Alongside the prison sentence, Raybould was made subject to a five-year restraining order and banned from driving for 53 months. He will not be permitted to drive again until he passes an extended driving test. A victim surcharge was also imposed.

The offences

Raybould, of no fixed abode but from Newport, pleaded guilty to 10 charges in total – breaching a restraining order, threatening to damage or destroy property, assault by beating, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, criminal damage, shoplifting, possession of cannabis, and failing to surrender.

Prosecutor Hannah Meredith-Jones told the court the offending took place between April 7, 2025 and New Year’s Eve 2025.
