A 37-year-old from Newport has been sentenced to 40 weeks in prison after being found guilty of failing to meet the conditions of the sex offenders’ register.
The offence
Ross Clarke had been released from prison but did not attend a designated police station within the required three-day window. The breach took place on November 13 last year.
Trial and sentence
Clarke, of no fixed abode, denied the charge and stood trial at Cardiff Crown Court, where a jury returned a guilty verdict.
Judge Eugene Egan sentenced him to 40 weeks’ imprisonment and imposed a £187 surcharge.
