A 37-year-old has begun a 26-week prison term after admitting a run of harassment offences investigated by South Wales Police.
What happened
The case reached officers on 7 July, when a call came in reporting that Nathan Morgan had ignored the terms of a restraining order made to protect the person it named. Officers were sent to an address in Merthyr Tydfil. A second report followed the next day, saying Morgan had turned up at the same property again – but he left before officers could detain him.
The arrest
Efforts to trace him ran on for around a fortnight before he was taken into custody.
In court
Morgan, of Merthyr Tydfil, appeared before Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 23 July. He admitted three counts of harassment by breaching a restraining order, together with one count of harassment without violence.
Sentencing
Magistrates imposed 26 weeks’ immediate custody.
Police reaction
Police Constable Dan Brookman said: “Nathan Morgan conducted a campaign of harassment against his victim which nobody should have to tolerate. The constant turning up at their address caused significant fear and distress to the victim and Morgan showed no remorse for his actions. Any form of harassment is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by police. Anyone who is experiencing this sort of behaviour should report it to us right away.”
