Man jailed and banned from keeping animals for life after badger cruelty

A man has been jailed for 16 weeks and banned from keeping animals for life after attempting to kill a badger and committing welfare offences against his own dog. 🐾⚖️

Lloyd Gary Robert Davies, 23, admitted attempting to kill a badger, aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring a wilful attempt to kill a badger, and animal welfare offences over his “lurcher type dog” called Shirley.

The incidents took place in Caerphilly between 28th October 2024 and 2nd November 2024.

Davies, whose address was given as Cardiff Prison, was sentenced at Newport Magistrates’ Court because of his “unnecessary and cruel” acts.

He must pay £554 in costs and a surcharge following his release from jail.
