A violent intruder who smashed his way into a Rhyl home before repeatedly strangling the occupant has been locked up.

Jack Daniel Brown forced entry to a flat on Bath Street in the early hours of 18 November 2025, destroying the lock and handle on the front door to gain access to the property.

The 33-year-old, who has no fixed address, then launched a terrifying attack on the person inside, repeatedly wrapping his hands around their neck and restricting their ability to breathe.

The victim had been woken by the sound of Brown smashing through the door. After gaining entry, Brown was heard shouting in another room, making references to “ketamine”, before he turned his aggression on the occupant.

Police raced to the scene after receiving reports of the break-in and assault. Officers swiftly arrested Brown and he was subsequently charged with intentional strangulation and criminal damage.

Brown appeared at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday, 13 January, having already entered guilty pleas to both charges at an earlier hearing.

He was sentenced to 22 months behind bars for the violent attack and property damage.
