A female greyhound has been rescued after being discovered in a severely emaciated condition near Burton, with rescuers “amazed” she survived her ordeal.

Greenacres Rescue, operating from Ebbs Acres Farm in Haverfordwest, took the dog into their care after she was initially brought to their veterinary practice by concerned members of the public.

The dog was found with a body score of less than one, severe open wounds, and what rescuers described as “a broken spirit”.

The rescue centre shared: “On Monday, we collected this poor female greyhound from our vets, she had been found near Burton on the weekend and taken to the vets by some very kind members of the public. Her condition and injuries are horrific, with a body score of less then one, severe open wounds and a broken spirit, I am amazed she’s still alive.”

The dog will remain under Pembrokeshire County Council’s care for seven days before being transferred to Greenacres Rescue’s ownership.

Anyone with information is urged to contact dog warden Sally-Ann Bland on 07557 251669 (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) or Greenacres on 01437781745. Information can be shared anonymously and will support ongoing investigations. 🙏
