Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo has announced the death of Sylvester, one of its miniature pigs, at the age of 11.

A life at the farm

Sylvester first came to the Pembrokeshire attraction as a piglet alongside Arnie, his sty-mate and what staff fondly called his “partner in crime.” While Arnie enjoyed the limelight during meet and greet sessions in the Jolly Barn, Sylvester was the more laid-back of the duo – content to stay in the background.

The pair retired together last year, moving from the Jolly Barn to the Piggery and paddocks across the road.

A difficult decision

Sylvester had been living with a number of health conditions, including arthritis, which the farm team and their on-site veterinary partners had been managing. Following a recent decline, the decision was taken to euthanise him at the start of May.

Folly Farm said: “Our thoughts are with the farm team at this time. We’ll miss you Sylvester!”

Looking ahead

Arnie remains at the Piggery alongside his other pig companions, while two new miniature piglets – Wilbur and Rufus – arrived late last year and can now be seen in the Jolly Barn.
