An untaxed and uninsured van has been taken off the road in Roath, Cardiff, along with thousands of suspected fake cigarettes and a large haul of cannabis.
South Wales Police seized the vehicle at Ashwood Court, just off Elm Street, on the afternoon of Wednesday 7 October.
What was found
Officers took away:
- 10,000 cigarettes believed to be counterfeit
- More than 100 bags of cannabis
- The van itself, which was unroadworthy and had neither tax nor insurance
How it came about
The seizure followed concerns raised by people in the community. Local police community support officers (PCSOs) then acted on that information.
Enquiries continuing
When the force shared details of the seizure, it said its enquiries were ongoing.
Appeal to residents
South Wales Police used the case to encourage people to keep reporting what they see. The force said: “We can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming.”
