A Dyserth man has been jailed for 24 weeks after stealing bottles of wine from his local shop and assaulting a police officer.
Kaya Colakoglu, 34, of High Street, Dyserth, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 22 December, where he admitted three counts of theft and one count of assaulting an emergency worker.
The thefts occurred between 19-21 December at the Spar store in Dyserth, where Colakoglu repeatedly entered the shop and took multiple bottles of wine without attempting to pay.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer following his arrest.
In addition to his 24-week prison sentence, Colakoglu was issued with a restraining order that prohibits him from entering any Spar store in England and Wales.
A North Wales Police Denbighshire Coastal and Abergele statement said: “Kaya Colakoglu, of High Street, Dyserth, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 22 December. He was charged with three counts of theft, which occurred between 19-21 December.
“On each occasion, Colakoglu entered the Spar store in Dyserth and took multiple bottles of wine without attempting to pay.
“In addition to admitting these offences, he also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer following his arrest.
“Colakoglu was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison and issued with a restraining order that prohibits him from entering any Spar store in England and Wales.”
