A drug dealer already handed nine years behind bars has received a further prison sentence, this time for getting behind the wheel with cocaine in his system.
Lewys Nash, 30, was jailed for 12 weeks and banned from driving for 53 months after appearing at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
The offence
Nash, of Hartshorn Court, Lansbury Park, Caerphilly, was driving a Peugeot Partner van on the A449 in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, on Wednesday 29 April.
A test showed 65 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of his blood. The legal limit is 10 microgrammes per litre, which put him more than six times over.
In court
Laura Thomas prosecuted the case. Nash admitted driving while over the specified limit for cocaine.
Sentencing
Magistrates imposed:
- 12 weeks in prison
- A 53-month driving ban
Earlier drugs case
The drug driving case came after Nash was locked up for nine years at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in August. That sentence was for dealing drugs in Caerphilly and Cardiff, including:
- Cocaine
- Ketamine
- Cannabis
