A 40-year-old man has been jailed for shoplifting in Wrexham city. 🔐

James Hourigan, of Rhosddu Road, Wrexham, entered Savers on Hope Street on Sunday, 13 April and stole several beauty items. He walked out of the shop with the items concealed in his top, triggering the security alarm.

Despite staff challenging Hourigan, he walked away without any attempts to pay.

At the time of the shoplifting, Hourigan was in breach of a criminal behaviour order (CBO), banning him from entering any shop in the city centre.

On Monday, 14 April, he was jailed at Wrexham Magistrates Court for 20 weeks and ordered to repay the shop the value of the stolen items.

Acting Inspector Tom Dewberry said: “Tackling retail crime is a priority in Wrexham city, and we will continue to support that by robustly dealing with shoplifters.

“Retail theft is not a ‘victimless crime’ and has a genuine impact on the businesses and staff affected by it.

“We will continue to work with partners and residents to protect those working in the retail sector.”
