Driver banned after 115mph in 50mph zone on M48

A Newport driver has been banned from the roads after being caught at more than double the speed limit.

Kallum Hopkins, 21, of Thornbury Park, Rogerstone, pleaded guilty to speeding at a staggering 115mph in a 50mph zone on the M48 in Chepstow on February 25.

Hopkins was driving a Volkswagen Polo when he was clocked at 65mph over the legal limit.

Appearing at Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court, the defendant was disqualified from driving for 100 days.

He was also fined £240 and ordered to pay £130 in costs.
