Swift justice was served after a series of burglaries in Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf earlier this month. 🔒👮
Two men were arrested in the early hours of April 13 after witnesses reported them attempting to break into several properties, including homes and garages, stealing valuables such as tools.
Carl Baker, 54, from Swansea, appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on April 14, where he pleaded guilty to burglary and assaulting two police officers. He was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison for two counts of beating an emergency worker and one count of burglary.
A second man, aged 54 from Pentre, was also arrested at the scene but has since been released on bail as police continue their enquiries.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police attended an address in Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf at 6:20am on Sunday April 13, 2025, after reports of a burglary.
“Carl Baker, 54 from Swansea has been charged with burglary other than dwelling and two counts of beating an emergency worker, he appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on Monday April 14 where he pleaded guilty to all three charges. He was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison.
“A 54-year-old man from Pentre was arrested on suspicion of Burglary other than dwelling but was released on bail pending further enquires.”
