Woman jailed for knife at Barry police station

A Barry woman has been sentenced to 146 days in prison after admitting to having a kitchen knife at Barry police station.

Clare Thomas, 58, of Powis View, Barry, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court after being caught with the blade at the station on Wednesday, August 6.

Prosecutor Angharad Jones told the court it was the defendant’s second offence of a similar nature.

Defence lawyer Ellis Worlsey asked that Thomas “be given the appropriate credit for her guilty plea.”

Thomas was also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge following her release from custody.
