A 23-year-old Flintshire man has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison after a violent incident in Mold that left both a teenager and police officer injured. 👮♀️
Nathan Hughes of Chapel Street, Flint, appeared before Mold Crown Court today where he received a jail term of one year and 11 months for the February attack.
The court heard how Hughes struck a 17-year-old with a bottle during an altercation on Mold High Street on 8th February. When police arrested Hughes for the assault, he violently swung his arm and elbow, hitting an officer in the face and causing her nose to bleed.
Hughes was subsequently charged with wounding, inflicting grievous bodily harm to the teenager, and assault causing actual bodily harm to the officer. He was remanded in custody until today’s sentencing.
Acting District Inspector Paul Jones condemned Hughes’ actions, stating: “Hughes’ violent behaviour that day was simply disgraceful.”
“Violence has no place in Flintshire, and we will not tolerate any assault against an emergency service worker whilst trying to do their jobs to keep others safe.”
“I would urge members of the public to call out violence towards any emergency worker, who attend work every day to face danger to help and protect you.”
