Two men have been jailed for breaking into a café in Adamsdown, Cardiff, at the weekend 🏛️

Michael Condon was found by police sleeping in Sapphire Street, still wearing a red and black coat seen on the café’s CCTV footage.

Staff arrived at My Sisters House in nearby Clifton Street at 8am on Saturday morning (31 May) to find the front door damaged and items missing.

A box of oil, money, mobile phones, and bottled drinks had been stolen from the café.

After quickly viewing CCTV footage, officers from Roath Neighbourhood Policing Team were out searching the area for suspects.

Within around 30 minutes Condon, 38, from Butetown, was arrested. Next to him was the box of stolen olive oil and close by were pallets of stolen Coca Cola in glass bottles.

Accomplice Daniel Collins, 51, from Penylan, was arrested the following day by the neighbourhood policing team.

Both men appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday (2 June) and pleaded guilty to burglary.

Collins was sentenced to 16 weeks. Condon was sentenced to 22 weeks for the burglary and two thefts.

South Wales Police said: “We hope this quick justice provides comfort to all those connected to My Sisters House. We recognise that being a victim of burglary is traumatic, whether it’s your home, business, or workplace, and we also work hard to identify those responsible.”

They added: “As always, we ask businesses to review their security systems and make it clear that there is no cash on the premises overnight. We also ask people to be vigilant of anyone seen hanging around businesses or retail premises during the early hours of the morning. If anyone is seen acting suspiciously, please call police immediately on 999.” 🚨
