Newport Man Jailed After Breaching Pill Area Ban

A Newport man has been sentenced to 30 weeks in prison after breaching a court order banning him from the Pill area. 📍⚖️

Lawrence Seivwright, 40, of Gaer Vale, Newport, appeared before the city’s magistrates’ court where he admitted entering the Pill area on February 20 – despite being subject to a criminal behaviour order prohibiting him from doing so.

The court heard that Seivwright also pleaded guilty to public disorder, possession of 1.25 grams of crack cocaine, and failing to surrender to custody.

Magistrates were told the defendant has previous convictions for supplying heroin and shoplifting.

The criminal behaviour order banning Seivwright from the Pill area had been imposed on August 15 last year.
