A 22-year-old man has been jailed after becoming obsessed with a woman and repeatedly violating a restraining order designed to protect her.
Daniel Prosser, of Llwyn On Road, Oakdale, kept turning up outside his victim’s home, threw stones at her car, and chased her asking: “Can we talk? Can’t we be friends?”
Prosecutor Abdallah Barakat told Newport Crown Court that Prosser had hounded his victim in defiance of the restraining order banning him from contacting her.
The victim revealed she was so distraught by Prosser’s behaviour that she wanted to leave the area to escape him and has been forced to install security cameras outside her home.
Prosser admitted multiple breaches of his restraining order in August.
His barrister, Alex Granville, asked the court to consider Prosser’s young age, “immaturity” and remorse.
However, Judge Shomon Khan said the offending was so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate, jailing Prosser for 22 months. 🔒
Gwent Police have refused to provide a mugshot of Prosser.
