Popular American chicken wing chain Wingstop is heading to Merthyr Tydfil, bringing its signature flavours to Victoria Street in what will be the brand’s first town centre location in Wales. 🍗
The new restaurant marks Wingstop’s third Welsh outlet, following successful launches in Cardiff during 2023 and Swansea in January 2025. While the company hasn’t locked down an official opening date yet, they’re already on the hunt for key staff members to get the operation up and running.
Three management positions are currently being advertised for the Merthyr site: a general manager, assistant manager and shift manager. According to Wingstop’s recruitment pages, these roles will be crucial in maintaining the customer experience the brand has become known for.
Since crossing the Atlantic from its US roots, Wingstop has been expanding rapidly across Britain, building a reputation for freshly cooked chicken wings, tenders and chips served with an array of distinctive sauces and seasonings.
Local officials are optimistic about what the new restaurant could mean for Victoria Street, with hopes it will draw more visitors to the town centre and support ongoing regeneration efforts in the area. The job opportunities are also being welcomed as a boost for local employment.
More information about the opening date and further recruitment opportunities is expected to be released over the coming months.
