A serial shoplifter who helped himself to Hugo Boss watches, Ferrero Rocher chocolates and more during a stealing spree across Gwent has been locked up.

Levi Roberts, 37, of Rock Villa Close, Varteg, Pontypool, targeted stores in Newport, Cwmbran and Pontypool over several weeks, racking up a trail of thefts.

His offending began on January 14 when he stole items worth £213.70 from the Co-op in Pontypool. A week later, on January 21, he took goods of an unknown value from TK Maxx in Newport.

Roberts struck again on January 28, stealing Ferrero Rocher chocolates worth £110.60 from Sainsbury’s in Newport.

His busiest day came on February 4, when he carried out three thefts in Cwmbran alone – two Hugo Boss watches valued at £360 from Badzgaming, skin serum worth £47.95 from Boots, and speakers worth £25.98 from HMV.

He also pleaded guilty to the attempted theft of men’s coats worth £699.96 from TK Maxx in Newport on October 18 last year.

Roberts appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where he admitted all offences. District Judge Sophie Toms jailed him for 40 weeks.
