Two Swansea men have been jailed following a shocking road rage incident where they threatened a young family and brandished a samurai sword after being challenged about their dangerous driving. 🚨
Stephen Harris, 29, from Uplands, and Lathan Gray, 27, from Bonymaen, were performing wheel spins and handbrake turns in a Citroen Xsara Picasso on Llangyfelach Road, Treboeth, around 6:20pm on Sunday April 20.
After nearly causing a collision, the pair followed and intimidated a motorist who had challenged their behaviour. The victim, who had his partner and seven-year-old son in the vehicle, was blocked in at a Texaco garage by Harris, while Gray made threatening advances – lifting his jumper to reveal a samurai sword tucked into his trousers.
Police later discovered the vehicle had false registration plates, was uninsured, and contained additional weapons including a kitchen knife and hammer. Harris was already disqualified from driving until 2029.
Both men were charged, remanded, and pleaded guilty the following morning. Gray received a 48-week prison sentence, while Harris was sentenced to 26 weeks.
Detective Inspector Danielle Thorne said: “Stephen Harris and Lathan Gray are two men who believe that the law does not apply to them. Their intimidating behaviour, particularly towards a family with a young child, was totally disgraceful. We hope that they both take their time in prison to think better of this kind of thuggish behaviour.”
