Three people sustained stab wounds during the incident and required hospital treatment.
Charges and verdicts
Mohabat Adreemzai, 20, of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, and Mahfuz Uddin, 24, of Waun Wen, Swansea, both denied violent disorder and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. Both were found guilty on all counts.
Yasir Aryan, 19, of Brynmill, Swansea, was convicted of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Mohammed Uddin, 26, of Townhill, Swansea, was found guilty of violent disorder.
Sentences
Mahfuz Uddin was handed the longest sentence at 39 months’ imprisonment. Adreemzai received 36 months, while Mohammed Uddin was sentenced to 24 months and Aryan to 21 months.
Detective Constable Corrie Lawford said: “These were extremely violent scenes involving a large group of young men which hold no place on the streets of Swansea.
“Knives ruin lives, and in this case, they have resulted in four men going to prison. We have just marked Knife Crime Awareness Week, so this sentencing comes at a fitting time. It shows that we will catch anyone involved in knife crime in our communities, and we will bring them to justice.”
