Two shoplifters who fled from a Cwmbran store with stolen coffee were caught after a police chase.

Aaron Cook, 36, and Warren Turnbull, 45, made off with £60 worth of coffee from B&M on Saturday, January 10. Officers pursued the pair and arrested them.

Both men appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court where they pleaded guilty to the theft.

But Cook, of Oakdale Path, St Dials, Cwmbran, had more to answer for. He also admitted two separate shoplifting incidents at Tesco Express – stealing alcohol and food worth £19 on December 4, 2025, and alcohol and vapes valued at £14.11 on January 8.

The spree of thefts landed Cook in serious trouble. His offending breached a suspended prison sentence he’d received for burglary, and District Judge Sophie Toms sent him to prison for 44 weeks.

Turnbull, who has no fixed abode, received an eight-week prison sentence suspended for six months. He was also ordered to pay £30 compensation to B&M.
