An off-road bike ridden illegally through streets and town centres in the Cynon Valley has been confiscated by police and is set to be crushed.

The seizure

South Wales Police said the rider – a 14-year-old who was not wearing a helmet – was stopped by officers from the Cynon neighbourhood policing team as part of ongoing enforcement action targeting off-road bikes being used on public roads.

Safety concerns

Officers warned that riding without a helmet posed a serious risk of injury to the teenager, while the use of off-road bikes in built-up areas also endangered members of the public.

Ongoing action

The force said its neighbourhood officers are continuing to pursue those riding off-road bikes illegally on roads and in town centres across the Cynon Valley area.
