Newport Man Jailed for Cardiff Attack While on Suspended Sentence

A Newport man has been jailed after attacking a woman in Cardiff last week. 🔒

Neil Davies, 25, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to assault by beating when he appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

The attack took place in Cardiff on Thursday, March 6, while Davies was already serving a suspended prison sentence for a previous offence.

Prosecutors withdrew a more serious charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the same victim.

The magistrates sentenced Davies to 14 weeks in prison and ordered him to pay a £154 victim surcharge following his release from custody.
