Man Dies in M48 Crash Near Chepstow

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash on the M48 in Monmouthshire.

The driver of an Audi S1 Quattro was pronounced dead at the scene near Junction 2 at Newhouse, Chepstow, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours before reopening on Saturday evening.

Gwent Police have confirmed that formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of the registered vehicle owner – a 21-year-old man from Devon – have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information to come forward.
