Llanelli Man Hit with £570 Fine for Cigarette Littering

A 42-year-old Llanelli man has been ordered to pay more than £570 after discarding a cigarette butt outside a Tesco store in Milford Haven last September. 💸

Mark Evens, of Llys Westfa, Llanelli, was found guilty in his absence at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (Apr 3) of violating section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The court heard that on September 3, 2024, Evens dropped a cigarette butt in a public place, constituting an environmental offence.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, plus prosecution costs of £266.66. A collection order was made, requiring the full balance of £574.66 to be paid by May 1.
